VSE Gamepad Lite is an updated version of VSE Gamepad, which offers clientside gamepad compatibility for Eureka ships. When playing on a modded multiplayer server, this addon can be added to your modpack and used on the server without issue. It does not allow the gamepad to be used for play outside of ship control, but it is compatible with Controllable and MidnightControls, which can be used in tandem to allow the gamepad to be used for the entire game.
