History

The Jury-Rigged Propeller Bearing is an early game solution to propeller rotation. It’s weaker than the Brass Propeller Bearing, and it can only be used with the Blade Controller; when sails are placed on the bearing, it will fail to assemble. With the ‘Propeller Blade Damage’ config enabled, it will also damage blades over time, so planes built with this bearing will eventually fail.

According to Merriam-Webster, ‘jury-rigged’ means ‘to erect, construct, or arrange in a makeshift fashion’, whereas ‘jerry-rigged’ means ‘organized or constructed in a crude or improvised manner’. ‘Jury-rigged’ is the intended spelling.

Usage

When the Jury-Rigged Propeller Bearing is powered with Rotational Force and has at least one block connected to it, right clicking it will start its rotation. If a Blade Controller with suitable Blades is attached to it, it will generate thrust, which can be used to propel planes, airships, and other vehicles forward. When its rotation is inverted, it will instead propel the vehicle in the opposite direction. The more blades are attached to its blade controller, the higher the thrust it produces, but it will draw more Stress Units in turn.

Unlike the Brass Propeller Bearing, the Jury-Rigged Propeller Bearing cannot be used with sails, and it produces less thrust with the same amount of blades. Additionally, when the ‘Propeller Blade Damage’ config is enabled, it will damage the attached blades over time.
