Revision

Genesis is a space mod focused on modularity and depth. Many space mods tend to be “build rocket, go to planet, build another rocket, go to another planet…”, and while Genesis has that, it focuses mainly on the more in-depth experiences beyond it - that is, infinite planets, quests, and atmosphere.

The Genesis Module

The Genesis module is responsible for the interplanetary aspect of this mod. In order to deliver the most seamless space experience possible, it utilizes Pehkui and Valkyrien Skies to shrink everything in the space dimension down to 1/16 of their normal size, resulting in extremely quick and seamless movement for ships without running into unloaded chunks. Thanks to the fact that everything is either a render or a Valkyrien Skies ship, world height no longer matters.

Notable features are:

• A space dimension with a Sun and configurable planets, which orbit around it very slowly.

• Datapackable planet registration.

• A navigational projector that displays a scaled version of the solar system for finding planets.

• A Void Engine multiblock which grants access to a hyperspace dimension that compresses your coordinates similarly to the Nether.

• An asteroid belt around the planets with destructible asteroids. The asteroid belt can be found 25,000 blocks away from the Sun at an approximate y level of 0.

The Dataplanets Module

The Dataplanets module is responsible for everything to do with the planet dimensions once you enter a planet’s atmosphere. There are infinite possibilities with fully procedurally generated planets, biomes, terrain, and more! Notable features include:

• Procedurally generated planet dimensions

• Procedurally generated biomes and other properties for those dimensions

• Ability to create new planets in-game using the creative Star System Theory item

• A space suit and oxygen bubble generator for being able to survive in hostile environments

Notes

• Currently, the only Valkyrien Skies thruster mod that works correctly with this mod is Zero Point Labs. In the future, other thruster mods will also become compatible, and mods such as Create: Propulsion are already planning compatibility.

• To get to space, fly a Valkyrien Skies ship up to y = 4096 and both the ship and you will be teleported.

• To create a Void Engine, build a 3x3x3 cube of void engine blocks/glass with a Void Core at the center, then place a Void Interface in one of the horizontal blocks that touch the Void Core. To activate the engine, fill FE into the Void Interface and power one of the adjacent blocks with redstone.
